The future of manufacturing in Ireland has been at the centre of discussions by delegates from 16 countries at a two-day conference in Waterford Institute of Technology this week.

IMC24 (the 24th International Manufacturing Conference) was opened by the Institute’s director, Professor Kieran R Byrne, who spoke of the importance of sharing knowledge and experience. Prof Byrne also expressed particular interest in how Ireland can continue to compete in global manufacturing now that it is no longer a low-cost economy and spoke of the clear contribution that higher education can make as skills partners to manufacturing industries.
