Hold out for grain price, urges IFA

THE IFA has urged grain growers to retain owner-ship of their crop where buyers have not offered a satisfactory green price.

IFA grain committee chairman Colum McDonnell said green prices for grain had risen considerably in the past few days as the harvest draws to a close.

Prices of €178 to €194/t are available for green barley (at 20% moisture exclusive of VAT), and €195 to €215/t has been offered for green wheat. Where larger lots are on offer, free transport has been included in the deals.
