EAAP gears up for annual meeting

SOME 1,000 delegates are expected to attend the 58th annual meeting of the European Association of Animal Production (EAAP) in University College Dublin from August 26-29.

Agriculture and Food Minister Mary Coughlan told the visitors livestock production for meat and milk is the central plank of Ireland’s agri-food sector and the contribution it makes to the national economy is enormous.

“Irish agriculture in general has been well served by the EAAP,” she said.

The latest research in animal production will be presented at workshops associated with the meeting. Delegates will also have technical tours relating to cattle, sheep and horse breeding and production in Ireland.
