DAA to scrap incentive scheme

THE Dublin Airport Authority is scrapping a scheme that allowed new airlines using the facility to have a discount on passenger charges.

DAA to scrap incentive scheme

The DAA said capacity constraint at the airport, caused by the delay in getting planning permission for a new terminal, meant it could no longer accept applications from airlines.

The Dublin Airport Route Support Scheme was introduced in 2005 and offers discounts on charges for three years on non-EU routes out of the airport.

“In an environment where the airport’s infrastructure is under pressure due to strong passenger growth and where there are still obstacles to our plans to transform the airport, we must examine all available measures to mitigate congestion,” the DAA said.
