Philips to make move to Canada

BROWN THOMAS GROUP chairman Galen Weston last night announced that Dalton Philips, chief executive of the Brown Thomas Group, has been appointed chief operating officer of sister company, Loblaw companies in Canada.

Mr Philips will be responsible for all of the company’s retail operations and will report directly to Galen G Weston jnr, executive chairman of Loblaw.

Loblaw is Canada’s largest food distributor and is one of the country’s largest private sector employers with over 135,000 full-time and part-time employees. It is also a leading provider of general merchandise, drugstore and financial products and services with more than 1,000 corporate and franchised stores.
