WORKERS in small and medium companies should be given leave paid by the Government to undertake training, a business group has claimed.

ISME, the independent business organisation, said training for staff in small businesses should be given the same policy priority as investment in technology, research and development.

Mark Fielding, ISME chief executive, said some of the 500 companies which have taken part in its training courses reported a return of more than 400% on the investment.
