Cllr’s request to halt the Dáil denied

GREEN PARTY spokesperson on Finance Dan Boyle asked to call a halt to the business of the Dáil yesterday to allow a debate to on the Central Bank financial stability report which was released yesterday.

The Ceann Comhairle did not agree to this request.

Mr Boyle said: “The release of this report and its underlying messages that house prices in this country are being over valued by 14% and that little more than 20% of those seeking housing will be in a position to afford houses if current trends persist, are stark figures that demand an urgent response from the Government and particularly from the Minister for Finance Brian Cowen.”
