Apprentice runner-up to star in TV search for inventors

She will act as star adviser on new Sky One series The Big Idea, a nationwide search for wannabe inventors and entrepreneurs.

The winner will land a £100,000 (€147,000) prize to invest in their dream business.

The seven-part series will be aired on Sky One this autumn.

Ruth, nicknamed The Badger, will be on hand to give the applicants straight-talking advice.

The 27-year-old from Wolverhampton was beaten to the top job in The Apprentice by Michelle Dewberry.

But Alan Sugar may be regretting his choice.

Ms Dewberry recently revealed she was pregnant by fellow contestant Syed Ahmed.

Mr Sugar is said to be furious at the news and Ms Dewberry is reportedly on gardening leave.

Mr Ahmed is also making a return to TV.

He is one of 80 celebrities hoping to win a place in a celebrity football squad for The Match, which is returning to Sky One this autumn for a third series.

It was reported at the weekend that Mr Ahmed has been questioned by British police on suspicion of involvement with a money laundering scam.

The 31-year-old was arrested in Chingford, east London, last Friday.

He was later questioned and released on police bail until October 20.
