Sponsorship group gets Irish director

THE first Irish director has been appointed to the European Sponsorship Association.

John Trainor, managing director of Dublin-based consultancy Onside Sponsorship, was one of three appointments at the association’s annual general meeting last week.

With sponsorship in Ireland set to reach up to €90m in this Ryder Cup year, and with major new developments like naming rights for Lansdowne Road and challenges to traditional marketing; Trainor commented: “This is a good time to have an Irish representative on what is a leading voice for Europe’s sponsorship industry.”
