French stocks up

FRENCH stocks advanced, paced by Essilor International SA after the company reported a gain in first-half sales.

Shares of European Aeronautic, Defense & Space Co and Thales SA also rose.

The CAC 40 Index climbed 18.50, or 0.4%, to 4,865.04 in Paris. The SBF 120 Index gained 0.4%.
