Renewable energy wind turbine deal

RENEWABLE energy specialist Airtricity has secured its largest wind turbine deal to date, purchasing more than 300 GE 1.5megawatt turbines from GE Energy for more than $550 million (€438.7m).

The investment will support the company’s US build programme for 2008 — its turbines for the remainder of this year and 2007 having already been secured.

Airtricity has plans to develop in the California and Canadian markets.
