Three British bankers have been accused of a million-pound fraud “as a means to prosecute major figures in the Enron scandal”, a court heard yesterday.

The trio of former NatWest investment specialists are alleged to have defrauded a subsidiary of the bank along with two Enron executives.

David Bermingham, Giles Darby and Gary Mulgrew, all 42, who deny all charges, are being “used as a weapon” in the Enron investigation, London’s Bow Street Magistrates Court was told.
