THE number of mobile phones in the country has exceeded 3.5 million, or 88% of the entire population.

New figures from the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) show that the number of mobile phones in the country grew 400,000 since March last year.

A staggering 910 million text messages were sent over that period, with the average phone user sending 88 texts each month.
