Ireland number 2 Peter Buldorini battled severe cramp to level the Davis Cup tie with Syria at the UL Sport Arena, winning an extraordinary singles match by 7-6 6-4 over Taym Al Azmeh.

The 21-year-old Buldorini took the first set on a tie break but began to suffer midday through the second set, requiring separate bouts of treatment, once from Ireland coach Conor Niland.
