Strong gains for financials

THE ISEQ continued to climb yesterday, rising 67.49 points higher to close at 4355.68.

And substantial gains were made on the financial market as it rose 224.09 points to 8753.27.

Irish Life and Permanent climbed 60c higher to €12.95 and Bank of Ireland rose 40c to €11.70.

Allied Irish Bank gained 20c to €13.03 and First Active closed 9c higher at €4.77. IFG Group rose 10c to €0.80 and Anglo Irish Bank was 1c stronger at €6.29.

CRH was 6c higher at €14.90 and Kingspan rose 5c to €2.10. Abbey gained 5c to €4.70 and DCC finished the day 5c higher at €10.20.

In the food sector Kerry Group climbed 5c to €14.65 and Glanbia rose 3c to €1.60. Fyffes gained 2c to €1.45 and Greencore closed 3c higher at €2.80.

Other movers on the day include Ryanair, 5c lower at €5.80, and Jury Doyle Hotels, 12c higher at €8.30. Galen Holdings rose 16c to €7.25 and Elan gained 10c to €3.
