WATERFORD Wedgwood's nightmare year has continued with first half sales and profits sliding further.

The luxury goods group said yesterday that like-for-like sales in the six months to end September were 7% lower than the same period in 2004 at €362 million.

Including turnover from the recently-acquired Royal Doulton, group sales were 11% higher.
