IRELAND should copy new requirements in Britain to force companies to provide better information in their published accounts, a leading accounting body said yesterday.

ACCA Ireland, which represents chartered accountants, said a new standard governing operating and financial reviews was “a significant improvement” and was in the interests of shareholders.

“There is no reason why is should not be adopted in Ireland,” said ACCA Ireland president Roger Acton.
