Crestor drug to hit US market

DRUGS giant AstraZeneca said yesterday it was optimistic US regulators would give the green light to its cholesterol-lowering drug Crestor this week.

The London-based Anglo-Swedish drugs group said it was “confident” of being able to announce tomorrow that the US Food and Drug Administration has approved its application to sell Crestor in the US market.

Newspaper reports yesterday said the FDA has approved the group’s application to sell the drug in the US, which accounts for 50% of the worldwide pharmaceutical market.
