Revenue wins web design award

THE Revenue Commissioners has scooped the award for best innovation within the public sector for its Icarus Customs project.

The project is a web-based paperless system that helps Revenue deal with customs clearance applications for Irish exporters and importers.

The award was presented at the inaugural public sector innovation- through-technology awards in Dublin last night. Other winners were the Department of the Environment for its online motor tax payment mechanism and Kerry County Council for its electronic system for supplier business.
