ISEQ settles 14.55 points up

THE ISEQ broke the 4,400 level in mid-afternoon trading yesterday before settling at 4,399.40 a gain of 12.82 points. Steady volumes across the board were indicative of trading across European bourses.

Main stocks gaining territory were Anglo Irish Bank, CRH and Elan. Anglo Irish Bank gained 21c following an upgrade by Morgan Stanley. CRH was 20c firmer at €15.60 with Vendex, a Dutch department store, reporting good DIY sales, highlighting the strength of the Dutch and Belgian DIY markets. Elan added 15c to €4.45 while Independent News and Media gained 4c to €1.62

Weaker were Allied Irish Bank off 10c at €12.25 and Ryanair down 6c at €6.11.
