Humanitarian award for Cullen

Businessman and writer Bill Cullen has been awarded the first Ireland Fund of Monaco Princess Grace Humanitarian Award for his contribution to underprivileged children in Ireland.

Bill Cullen is owner and chairman of Renault Ireland. Though he left school at just 13, his company, Glencullen Group has turnover of €400 million.

Mr Cullen is also chairman of the Irish Youth Foundation, which has raised €1 million a year for Irish youth projects to give opportunities to underprivileged young people in Ireland.

The award, which will be presented every two years, includes a specially- commissioned work of art and a bursary of €25,000 for a charity of the winner’s choice.
