Shares rise in line with European trend

SHARES in Dublin mirrored those in Europe yesterday with the ISEQ finishing 20.20 higher at 4383.02.

Trading in the financial stocks was seasonally light. First Active declined 12c to 4.78 after press reports that the company may be sued in the high court for up to €100m following the collapse of the Cunningham Group. Irish Life & Permanent gained 19c to 9.75 while Bank of Ireland edged 3c higher to 10.48.

Elsewhere renewed investor interest saw DCC advance 35c to 10.65. Ryanair added 7c to 6.10 following the departure of the chief executive of FreshAer. Other significant movers included CRH, up 5c to 15.60 while Greencore slipped 7c to 2.75.
