Anglo Irish bucks negative trend

THE Irish market ended the day in negative territory, with the ISEQ shedding 6.93 points to 6009.97.

The main banks took a hit with AIB unchanged at €14.60 and Bank of Ireland dropping 12c to €11.54. Irish Life and Permanent was also down on the day easing 13c to €13.17. In contrast, Anglo Irish Bank continued its stellar performance gaining 46c to €16.88.

In construction CRH and McInerney were both higher at €19.16 and €6.10 respectively. DCC dropped a sizable 95c to €15.40 while Kinspan fell 20c to €6.62.

Elan slipped 22c to €20.65 after profit taking. Other movers on the day included Ryanair which eased 3c to €5.05 after a quiet day’s trading with the US holiday.
