Dublin shares recover after lull

SHARES in Dublin rebounded from yesterday’s fall, mirroring gains across European bourses. The ISEQ Index firmed 18.05 points to 5606.96, advancing for the third day in four.

Elan rose 21c to €18.71. Ryanair, climbed 12c to €3.74, a rise from its lowest price in four-and-a-half years.

Waterford Wedgwood dropped a massive 4c, following the announcement of a rights issue. CRH finished 11c stronger at €18.65, with the firm benefiting from positive data from the US. Shares in Heiton dropped 15c.

Bank of Ireland nudged 1c higher to €10.65, while Anglo-Irish and Irish Life & Permanent both posted gains of 10c. AIB bucked the trend, down 3c to €10.67. DCC gained 5c following a broker upgrade.
