Dollar nosedives against the euro

THE dollar fell past $1.26 against the euro for the first time, heading for its biggest annual drop on low US interest rates relative to Europe.

The dollar declined even after a government report showed US jobless claims fell to the lowest in almost three years.

The Federal Reserve has said it won’t rush to raise its target interest rate from a four-decade low of 1%, which is half the ECB’s rate.
