Managing director for mobile operator

NEW mobile phone operator 3 has appointed a managing director for its Irish arm.

The company, which launched in Ireland four months ago, said Robert Finnegan will be responsible for the Irish market. He previously worked for Hutchison Whampoa, the Hong Kong conglomerate that owns 3.

The company said yesterday that it was pleased with its Irish unit, though it would not say how many customers it had signed up so far.
