Male HR managers earn 25% more than women
The nationwide salary and benefits survey found male HR managers are earning on average €66,680, while the average female HR manager salary is €53,372.
Another finding of the survey was CIPD professionals in Ireland in 2004 received a 6% increase in basic salaries from 2003. Where the average basic salary was €44,465, it is now €47,123.
Dublin provides the highest level of remuneration for CIPD members across all levels of Human Resources.
The survey was compiled by The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) in partnership with recruitment specialists Premier Group.
CIPD sent a salary survey to members in the Republic of Ireland and out of a total of 4,983 questionnaires, 877 (17%) were completed. This is the first time this survey has been conducted.
CIPD Ireland director Michael McDonnell said there would be comprehensive review of remuneration packages within the HR industry.
The survey also found that the financial services sector was the highest paying industry with an average basic salary of €51,043. This is closely followed by public service/education where the average basic salary is €50,650. The retail/wholesale sector was identified as the lowest paying sector with an average basic salary of €40,166.
Larger companies who employ over 1,000 people pay the highest average basic salary of €51,279. While smaller companies employing over 50 staff pay on average €42,871.
Just over 94% (830) of respondents have a third level qualification, while women dominate the HR profession as 73.5% of all respondents were women.
