A TAX loophole used by British firms to sell cheaper music and films could be tightened by the Jersey government.

Some major supermarket groups and other retailers have been selling chart CDs for as little as £8.50 (€12.70) by setting up mail order operations in the Channel Islands, which are not part of the EU.

Senator Frank Walker, president of the island’s policy and resources committee, said over the weekend that the publicity generated by the loophole had been damaging.
