GREENCORE is to shut one of its 10 barley malting plants, it emerged yesterday.

The company said it would close its 38,000-tonne plant at Carnoustie in Scotland later this year. The closure will result in 12 job losses.

The company blamed the closure on a downturn in exports to Eastern Europe and Russia.
