Mobile services report launched

MOBILE services not only provide a major opportunity for greater application of e-Government than traditional computer based technologies but offer the potential for a significant increase in public sector productivity and job satisfaction.

That is according to a new report by iReach, which finds that increased use of mobile technologies could save €20 million a year to the public sector.

The study, “Mobile Communications in the Irish Public Sector”, commissioned by O2 Ireland, is the first major report into mobile technology in the public sector. It also highlights the role which mobiles can play in combating emerging digital divides in Ireland, due to their widespread use and accessibility when compared to PC and internet penetration.
