Tesco increases market share

Britain’s biggest supermarket chain Tesco increased its share of the British grocery market last month at the expense of rival Sainsbury’s, which is struggling to cut prices as much as its competitors, according to a report published by market-research company Taylor Nelson Sofres.

Tesco’s market share rose to 27.5% in the 12 weeks ended April 25 from 27.3% a month earlier, while Sainsbury’s share fell to 15.5% from 15.7% last month, Taylor Nelson said in an e-mailed report.
