CPA seeks SME sector review

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland has called for the establishment of a review group to examine the impact of regulation on the SME sector, which it said was becoming unreasonable and strangling Irish business.

CPA president Daragh Solan said: “In pursuing the continued success of our economy, there is a need for Ireland to be viewed as a safe, secure and attractive country in which to do business.

However, there is a balance to be achieved between corporate compliance and corporate performance, and there is a real danger that over-regulation will stifle the SME sector, which is the foundation of economic success in this country”.
