THE idea that there are companies generating more wealth than Ireland has been debunked by the United Nations.

The UN Conference on Trade and Development list of the top 100 economic entities for the year 2000 shows that there is no company ahead of Ireland in the wealth-creation stakes.

The countries are ranked by Gross Domestic Product and corporations by “value added”, the sum of pre-tax profits, salaries, amortisation and depreciation.
