FORMER AIB chief executive Michael Buckley is to head the new group that will advise the Government on enterprise policy, Enterprise Minister Micheál Martin announced yesterday.

Buckley heads enterprise policy team

The Cork-born Mr Buckley, who stepped down as AIB boss earlier this year, will chair the six-member group that will monitor the implementation of the Enterprise Strategy Group report, which sets out a roadmap for the development of Irish enterprise in the future. He will be joined by Sean O’Driscoll, the chief executive of electrical and heating appliance heavyweight Glen Dimplex; Maurice Pratt, the chief executive of drinks and snack food group C&C; Intel Ireland strategy manager Helen Keelan; Susan Spence, the executive chairman and co-founder of Irish-headquartered international software business Softco; and Maurice Healy, chief executive of the Healy Chemicals group.

Mr Martin said the group would provide guidance to the Government to help make Ireland “one of the most attractive and competitive advanced economies in the world” and would aim to make the most of the blueprint set out by the Enterprise Strategy Group.
