Watch: Child rescued after six days under Venezuela earthquake debris
A Jordanian search-and-rescue team pulled a toddler alive from debris in Caracas on Tuesday (June 30), six days after major earthquakes hit Venezuela in footage provided by Jordan Public Security. Medical staff were seen providing treatment to the child following the rescue.
More than 1,700 people have been killed and 5,000 injured after hundreds of buildings were flattened or damaged by the back-to-back 7.2- and 7.5-magnitude quakes. The international community has rallied to help Venezuela deal with the disaster, with most help focused in La Guaira, the hardest-hit state. It is unclear how many people are still trapped. Websites where citizens register missing loved ones show about 45,000 people unaccounted for.
