A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a teenager in North-West London.

The suspect, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested and charged on Tuesday, according to the Metropolitan Police.

This comes following a fatal stabbing in Dudden Hill Lane, Dollis Hill, which officers attended at around 10.30pm on Saturday, May 30.

Jamal Ringrose, 15, was treated at the scene for stab wounds before being taken to hospital, where he died on June 4.

Speaking on Thursday, detective chief superintendent, Luke Williams said the force recognises “the concern locally after Jamal’s death and want to reassure our communities that we are doing everything possible to keep local people safe”.

“Our officers have acted swiftly to make arrests in connection with the wider disorder surrounding this incident,” said Mr Williams.

“This includes putting extra powers in place following Jamal’s death, allowing our officers to stop and search people in the area to protect the public and deter potential harm and criminality.”

A further eight people were previously arrested in connection with the incident, police said.

They include two teenage boys arrested on June 2 and June 3, who were later charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on May 31 on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm, and has since been released on bail.

A 19-year-old man arrested on June 4 on suspicion of affray has since been released on bail.

An 18-year-old man arrested on June 11 on suspicion of affray and possession of drugs has since been bailed.

A 28-year-old man, arrested on June 12 on suspicion of rioting, and a 27-year-old man who was arrested on June 14 on suspicion of the same offence, have both been bailed pending further inquiries.

Finally, a 17-year-old boy was arrested on Monday on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

He has also been released on bail pending further inquiries, police said.

Detective inspector Simon Ager, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts continue to be with the family and loved ones of Jamal at a difficult time”.

“Our work has led to one boy being charged with murder and we continue to work at pace to pursue several lines of inquiry following Jamal’s tragic death,” said Mr Ager.

“We would like to repeat our plea to anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward.

“Dashcam or mobile phone recordings from the street at that time are particularly welcome.”
