Columbia holds classes remotely after pro-Palestinian protesters arrested

University makes move after New York police called in to break up protests as unrest spreads across other US campuses

 Students and pro-Palestinian activists face police as they gathered outside of Columbia University to protest the university's stance on Israel on April 18, 2024 in New York City. 

Columbia University announced that classes would be held remotely on Monday after further days of unrest on the New York campus, following the arrest of pro-Palestinian protesters there last week.

With tensions rising further across many US university campuses, police officers also began arresting pro-Palestinian protesters at Yale University on Monday.
