A Vietnamese man has told how his parents paid £13,000 (€14,330) for a “VIP” smuggling trip to Britain days before the deaths of 39 migrants.

Prosecutors have alleged this was one of two successful cross-channel runs before the deaths of 39 Vietnamese nationals on October 23 last year.
