Japan is marking the fifth anniversary of the massive earthquake and tsunami which swamped much of the country's northeast coast.

The natural disaster triggered the world’s worst nuclear disaster since Chernobyl.

Almost 16,000 people died in the disaster - which caused a triple meltdown at the Fukushima nuclear plant.

160,000 local people had to be evacuated from the area and have still not been able to return to their homes.

Experts have said it could take another 40 years to remove all the nuclear fuel from the site.
