A lawyer for a convicted killer Adnan Syed has filed a motion arguing that mobile phone data placing the man near the murder scene should not have been introduced at trial.

Syed was convicted in 2000 of killing his high school girlfriend Hae Min Lee and saw his case revived in the popular Serial podcast.
