Prosecutors consider new charges against Clifford

Prosecutors are to decide whether jailed PR executive Max Clifford will face new charges after receiving a file of evidence from police in England.

Reports emerged earlier this year that the publicist had been arrested over fresh sex allegations.

He is currently serving an eight-year prison sentence after being found guilty last April of a string of indecent assault charges.

A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said today: “The CPS has received a full file of evidence following the arrest of a 72-year-old man in Peterborough on 12 March in relation to Operation Yewtree.

“A decision will be made in due course.”

The CPS did not confirm Clifford’s identity.

He was the first person to be convicted under Operation Yewtree, the police investigation launched in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal.
