Page boy faints as Queen of England gives her speech

One of the Queen of England's page boys appeared to faint as the monarch neared the end of outlining the British Government’s proposed laws.

A loud thud could be heard in the House of Lords around eight minutes and 53 seconds into her speech.

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, who were sat nearest to the boy, showed concern as help was called to assist him.

The boy was carried out of the chamber.

The incident occurred as the Queen told those assembled that the Government will work towards a "comprehensive nuclear agreement with Iran''.

She continued reading the speech without appearing to break her stride, adding: “The United Kingdom will lead efforts to prevent sexual violence in conflict worldwide.”

The three remaining page boys assisted her as she left the Lords after she completed the speech.

A House of Lords spokesman refused to identify which of the boys had fainted.

The spokesman said: “We can confirm one of the page boys did faint slightly but he is now fine. He is with his family and there is no problem.”
