Book returned anonymously to New York library - half a century late

A book has finally been returned to the New York Public Library - 55 years late.

Fire of Francis Xavier was taken out of the Fort Washington branch on April the 10, 1958.

The manager of the library says it was returned on Monday wrapped in a brown envelope and with a cheque for $100.

She says library records don't go back to the 1950s so there's no way to trace who loaned the book.
