Man, 20s, arrested following seizure of suspected drugs and cash worth almost €285k in Limerick

Gardaí seized suspected cocaine to the estimated street value of €275,000, along with more than €9,000 in cash.

A man, 20s, has been arrested following the seizure of suspected drugs and cash worth almost €285,000 in Limerick.

Gardaí attached to the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit, assisted by local and regional units, conducted a search under warrant at a domestic residence in Limerick city on Monday.

The search came as part of ongoing operations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the region.

As a result of the search, gardaí seized suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of €275,000, along with more than €9,000 in cash.

A man in his 20s was arrested and taken to a garda station in Limerick city.

He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The suspected drugs seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said "investigations are ongoing".
