Toilet theme park in South Korea

A toilet theme park has been created in South Korea.

The Restroom Cultural Park in Suwon has been built in memory of the city's former mayor Sim Jae-Duck, who was given the nickname “Mr Toilet” after he was reportedly born in his grandmother's lavatory.

This led to an obsession with toilets and as well campaigning for better facilities across the nation, he also built a home in the shape of a toilet, which is where the theme park's museum is, to live in.

The cultural park features a historical lavatory timeline, a toilet art gallery, "fun facts" about human excrement and several statues of the facilities, BBC News reports.

Lee Youn Souk, who works at the park, said: "We just focus on eating everyday, we sometimes overlook the importance of the toilet.

"We already know upon waking up in the morning we should go to the toilet but people don't want to talk about this. [They are] so important for health, sanitation and water conservation."
