Two more women claim Savile sexually abused them

Police in Gloucestershire, England, have been contacted by two women who claim they were sexually assaulted by Jimmy Savile, the force said.

One assault is alleged to have taken place in the county, while the other was reported on Wednesday by a local resident who said she was assaulted elsewhere.

The force spokeswoman said: "Two complaints have been made to Gloucestershire Constabulary and we have passed them on to the Metropolitan Police, who are leading the investigation."

The information has been passed to the Metropolitan Police, which is leading the investigation into alleged sexual abuse by the late TV presenter.

The inquiry into alleged child abuse by Savile is now a formal criminal investigation involving other living people, Scotland Yard has said.

The force revealed that two weeks of gathering information has involved assessing more than 400 lines of inquiry and has identified more than 200 potential victims.

Scotland Yard is investigating allegations Savile sexually assaulted children and adults at care homes, hospitals and on BBC premises following claims made on an ITV documentary.
