One dead as quake hits Indonesia
A powerful earthquake jolted western Indonesia early today, killing a man and sending panicked residents fleeing from homes in towns and villages across Sumatra island’s northern tip.
The magnitude 6.6 quake hit about 7.30 local time and was centred 17 miles (28km) north west of Aceh province’s Sinabang town at a depth of 28 miles (45km), according to the US Geological Survey.
