Thousands crowd into Tahrir Square in new protests
Thousands have crowded into Cairo's Tahrir Square this morning, after Egypt's Supreme Court last night ruled to dissolve the Parliament and to allow Hosni Mubarak's last prime minister, Ahmed Shafiq, to run in tomorrow's presidential election.
The move is seen as paving the way for the ruling military to assume parliament's powers, which it is feared will bring fresh turmoil to Egypt.
"I just don't want the old regime back. I don't want Shafiq…(He) is a representative of the old regime," said one protester.
"I know by heart that the Muslim Brotherhood want power for their own benefit, not for democracy," said another.
