Florida community forks out to attract German nudists

A west Florida community is forking out $3,800 to entice Germans to spend their vacations at a local nudist organisation.

The advertising grant was awarded by the Pasco County commission to Pandabare, which aims to promote the county's reputation as the nudist capital of the US.

Eric Keaton, public communications manager for the Pasco County tourist development agency, explained: "The idea is to create a Euro-bird season in July and August which are our worst two months of the year."

According to the organisation's application, Germany is a "large and lucrative market whose millions of nudists are among the world's most prolific travellers".
