Carbery champions Barryroe have completed the line-up for the semi-finals of Cork’s Junior A football championship after defeating Duhallow winners Castlemagner 2-10 to 0-9 in the final quarter-final Sunday in Whitechurch.

Goals from Ryan O’Donovan (19 mins) and a key 46th minute strike from midfielder Dermot Dineen when there was only a score in it (1-6 to 0-6) kept Castlemagner at bay, despite a strong second half effort from the north Cork side. They kicked a two point free after the second Barryroe goal to make it 2-6 to 0-8.

Ryan O’Donovan finished with 1-4 and his goal was the difference between the sides at the break (1-5 to 0-5), and they still held a four point lead with five minutes remaining before a couple of points from skipper Olan O’Donovan, one from a free, guided the west Cork champions into a last four berth, where they will play Muskerry representatives Aghinagh.

Douglas will face Charleville in the other semi final.
